Desription .........  As a counterpart to the Foretrex™ 201 from Garmin, the Foretrex™ 101 delivers GPS navigation in a lightweight, easy-to-operate device you wear on your wrist. Ideal for a variety of activities, from hiking, biking, to boating, this handy GPS device features a WAAS-enabled receiver, 500 waypoints, and an IPX7 waterproof case. Strap the Foretrex™ 101 on your wrist, and you’re ready to go, taking advantage of satellite navigation that keeps track of your location no matter how far away you travel from the beaten path – just trace the dotted line on your screen. The built-in trip computer is easy to operate, and the large display and few operating buttons add up to a very user-friendly experience. The Foretrex™ uses 2 AA batteries.

Outdoors Foretrex 101 : This is one hell of a Boy Toy, it s light weight feature packed, accurate, small works on AAA batteries with very good battery life. I have used this impressive device in the accuracy is unfaltering. I used the WAAS support which is supposed the device more accurate. It behaves great at high speed and is not sensitive to orientation or movement relative to the wearer. To top it all of I found the 101 to have real easy to use pages.

The cons were that is does not have a USB connection to the computer, it does come with a 9 pin serial port to connect to the PC and after that there is no mention in the manual of the software that is to be used. I later found that I could use the standard Gramin GPS based software. It cannot be used indoors as it does not even get a faint signal. The antenna is small so even in your backpack there is no signal. There is not external power connection. This is a great GPS device for the outdoors.
