Desription .........  Garmin has earned accolades for their amazing array of GPS Navigation devices, and the eTrex Vista is no exception. This WASS-enabled marvel of the GPS world features a 1 second continuous update rate, a 500 waypoint memory, and a super sharp color display that is the best of its kind. An amazing accuracy of 3 to 5 meters makes the eTrex Vista CX Handheld a superior performer to many larger GPS Navigators, while the eTrex Vista CX’s highly detailed maps are easily added via the microSD card and MapSource Data. Additional features like the accurate barometric altimeter and electric compass make the Vista CX Handheld a valuable tool for hikers, while drivers will love the automatic route generation, off-route recalculation, as well as the CX’s turn-by-turn directions (featuring alert tones) and icon-driven menus. Adding GPS map data via the mini USB port and Garmin MapSource CDs is quick and easy to do from your personal computer, for smooth traveling just about anywhere.

I have fallen in love : I have fallen in love with this device. It has got the works it comes with a 64MB Micro SD card this can be replaced with a large capacity card. If you want turn by turn instructions you have to buy additional software like MapSource® City Navigator North America DVD. The map has a large size clear display and it beeps in advance of a turn. It is multiuse can be used as a hand held since it has a great battery life with backlight off. The interface is logical with a four buttons for directions. Connects to a computer through a mini USB and has good transfer speeds. It has barometer, altimeter and electronic compass. It has a trip odometer and user customizable displays. There are very few negatives to this baby it does not have a thermometer and does not come with a recharge function which would have been nice. I would certainly suggest it for the entry level user. Buying this multi utility unit will put off that upgrade for quite a while. I recommend a large memory card and the software to match your navigation requirements and it will be the best entry level GPS money can buy.
