Desription .........  As GPS Systems get smaller (and smarter), travelers desiring reliable and convenient satellite global positioning data for their travels are discovering the power of compact, portable Navigation Systems like the Magellan Roadmate 760 Navigation system for your car, SUV, or truck. The Magellan Roadmate 760 features turn-by-turn navigation, simple menus, and 7 million pre-programmed points of interest (POI’s) like ATMs, service stations, restaurants and the like. The engineers at Magellan have incorporated ease of use and portability into a rugged GPS Navigation unit that fits in the palm of your hand, yet features a touch screen and a 600-address memory. The Magellan Roadmate ensures precision accuracy of your GPS satellite map data with the ability to access up to 12 satellites simultaneously, while providing your choice of routes containing “least use of freeways,” or “most use of freeways” as well as a “SmartDetour” function that provides alternative routes, as well as 3 guidance screens, and pre-loaded comprehensive mapping of the continental U.S., Hawaii, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Other features of the WAAS and EGNOS-Capable Magellan Roadmate 760 GPS Navigation System include: A 3.75” full-color touch screen; An “Instant Locate” feature allowing emergency services to find you in the event of a crisis; infrared communication with your PDA; easy car-to-car transferability; automatic reroute, automatic Night View and Volume that changes as your driving conditions change.

bad experience with Magellan's repair department : I suggest that everyone be wary of dealing with the repair department at Magellan. I sent in a Roadmate 760 to be repaired. After a month of not hearing from them, I called. After 7 30-60 minute annoying phone calls I learned that they would not repair the Roadmate 760. I was supposed to be happy that they offered to replace it with a unit that has less features than my original Roadmate 760. Eventually Magellan sent the replacement without my agreeing to the substitution. Any complaints were met with an attitude of "there is nothing I can do." The net result is that I am stuck with a unit that lacks the very feature that helped me decide to spend the money for a Roadmate 760. Magellan's customer service ranks as one of the worst I have ever dealt with.
